A native of Salem, Dale Pence formed his own construction business there in 1949, and Dale Pence, General Contractor, now Pence-Kelly Construction, celebrates its 50th anniversary next year. Among many accomplishments, his firm has been responsible for major renovations and modifications to our State Capitol Building. Mr. Pence is a founding committee member of the group who established OSU' s construction engineering management program. During the late ' 60s, he helped develop the curriculum and funding base for the program through an initial joint venture between the OSU College of Engineering and the ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ Columbia Chapter of the Associated General Contractors. Our CEM program thrives, in part, due to his generosity, including the Pence Scholarship Fund.
